On Wednesday, our Year 8 students enjoyed another meaningful visit to Bablake Care Home, where they were warmly welcomed by residents and staff alike. The visit was made even more special as the students helped celebrate Brian’s 85th birthday.
The pupils quickly got to work creating a surprise birthday card for Brian, carefully writing messages and decorating it with care. They then spent time serving tea in the lounge area, while also visiting residents in their rooms. For those unable to make it to the lounge, the students brought refreshments, conversation and companionship — filling the home with smiles and laughter.
Before leaving, the pupils tracked down Brian and gathered around him to deliver a heartfelt rendition of Happy Birthday. The moment was met with big smiles, applause and obvious joy, not just from Brian but from many residents nearby.
Visits like these give our students the opportunity to develop empathy, confidence and a sense of community, while creating genuine moments of happiness for others. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
