At Mill House School, we work closely with students, families and external services to support young people as they prepare for adulthood, employment and further education.
Parents and carers play a vital role in helping young people explore their options, build confidence and plan their next steps.

Careers Advice and Guidance

Prospects / Shaw Trust

Prospects (delivered by Shaw Trust) provides information, advice and guidance to help young people prepare for adulthood, employment, education and training.

Students will have opportunities at key transition points to receive support to explore their interests, skills and future pathways.

Helping Your Child to Search for and Apply for Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships can be a positive route for young people who enjoy practical learning and want to gain workplace experience while earning.

Supported Employment and SEND‑Specific Pathways

British Association for Supported Employment (BASE)

BASE promotes inclusive routes into employment and provides information about supported employment for young people with SEND.

Supported Internships

Supported Internships are structured work‑based study programmes for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Planning for Adulthood (SEND)

Guidance for parents and carers supporting young people with SEND to plan for adulthood.

Enterprise, Confidence and Alternative Pathways

The King’s Trust

The King’s Trust supports young people aged 11–30, including those with SEND, by helping them:

  • Build confidence and employability skills
  • Explore self‑employment and business ideas
  • Access mentoring, funding and training
