At Mill House School, we are always looking for ways to inspire a love of reading and help our young people develop the skills they need for life beyond school.
This half term, we are excited to launch our brand-new Reading Plus Champions Challenge!
Reading is one of the most important skills our students can develop. Strong reading skills support learning across every subject, build confidence, improve communication and help students become more independent learners. Most importantly, reading opens doors to new ideas, experiences and opportunities.
To encourage regular engagement with Reading Plus, classes will compete to become our very first Reading Plus Champions. Students are being challenged to work consistently both in school and at home to achieve the best results they can.
The challenge is simple: students should aim to achieve 80% or above on their Reading Plus activities. The class with the strongest overall engagement and achievement will be crowned our Reading Plus Champions.
As an extra incentive, the winning class will enjoy a special reward afternoon at Astley Book Farm, giving students the opportunity to explore thousands of books, discover new interests and celebrate their success together.
Reading for just a few minutes each day can make a huge difference. We encourage parents and carers to support their child by talking about what they are reading, celebrating their achievements and encouraging regular Reading Plus practice at home.
We are looking forward to seeing which class will rise to the challenge and become Mill House School’s very first Reading Plus Champions!
Let the reading begin!
