I am proud and humbled to share that I have been named a Runner Up in a national award recognising the impact of Personal Development education.
When I first began developing our Personal Development programme, the goal was simple: ensure that every young person had access to learning experiences that would help them not only succeed academically but also thrive as individuals. From PSHE and Relationships Education to careers guidance, work experience opportunities, SMSC development and British Values, every aspect of the curriculum has been designed to prepare students for life in modern Britain.
This recognition is particularly meaningful because it highlights the importance of educating the whole child. Personal Development helps students build resilience, confidence, communication skills, emotional literacy, and an understanding of the diverse world around them. These are skills that will support them throughout their lives, regardless of the path they choose.
Of course, no award is achieved by one person alone. I have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated colleagues who share a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our students. I am equally grateful to our families for their support and to our students, whose enthusiasm, honesty, and willingness to learn make this work so rewarding.
Over the years, I have seen students grow in confidence, discover new aspirations, and overcome challenges they once thought impossible. Those moments are the real reward of working in education.
While I am delighted with this recognition, it also motivates me to continue developing opportunities that help young people prepare for successful, fulfilling futures. Personal Development remains at the heart of what we do, and I am excited to continue building on this work in the years ahead.
