On Tuesday 10th February, our Year 8 students enjoyed an exciting opportunity during their English lesson — a live Q&A session with a BBC journalist.
Students prepared thoughtful questions and were able to have them answered in real time, gaining a unique insight into journalism, news production and the media industry. As part of the session, they also analysed both real and fake news clips, helping them develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of how information is presented and verified.
This hands‑on experience helped students see how the skills they are learning in English — such as questioning, evaluating sources and understanding media — link directly to real careers in the world of broadcasting and journalism.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 students for their engagement, curiosity and mature discussions throughout the session.
