At Mill House School, we are proud to offer a rich and engaging curriculum that goes beyond traditional subjects. As part of this, our themed weeks play a key role in supporting students’ personal development, broadening their understanding of the world, and bringing learning to life.
Across the year, students will explore a wide range of important themes designed to promote British Values and SMSC development (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural learning). These themes include topics such as belonging, anti-bullying, equality, mental health, diversity, climate change, and community engagement.
Each themed week has been carefully planned to ensure that learning is purposeful, relevant, and meaningful. Students will have opportunities to take part in a variety of activities including assemblies, lessons, enrichment days, and discussion-based sessions. These experiences encourage pupils to reflect on their own values, understand different perspectives, and develop essential life skills such as communication, empathy, and teamwork.
The themed weeks also allow us to celebrate key national and global events, such as World Book Day, Pride, Remembrance, and Mental Health Awareness, helping students to build cultural awareness and a sense of global citizenship.
By embedding these themes across the school year, we aim to ensure that all students feel supported, inspired, and prepared for life beyond school. These experiences are a vital part of helping our young people grow into respectful, confident, and well-rounded individuals.
We encourage parents and carers to explore the themed week overview and discuss these topics at home, helping to strengthen the connection between school and everyday life.
