As reported by Lewis and James (Year 7)
We were visited by two local police officers who talked to all the students about the importance of keeping safe when out and about in any public place.
The officers discussed the dangers of carrying a weapon like a knife in public. They explained that this was illegal (against the law) and punishable under the law. The officers advised the students to speak to a trusted adult if they ever suspected that someone was carrying a knife. The officers also made it clear that students had to take care to stay safe when they were online, whether they were gaming or posting on social media sites and apps.
The students learnt that they should keep safe by only communicating with people online they know in real life and to never give out personal details online, such as a home address or personal email address.
After the students learnt about the dangers of knife crime, they also had the chance to try on various police gear, such as riot helmets and police hats.
