“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader” – Margaret Fuller
At Mill House School, we understand the importance of promoting the reading habit and have a number of avid readers within the school. Students enjoyed a trip to Astley Book Farm where they had a chance to peruse over 100,000 books, buy a book and enjoy a hot chocolate and slice of cake in the cosy, and very festive, yurt.
Students from our book club chose to stick with some of the country’s best classics selecting the eponymous Jane Eyre and Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles. Contemporary writers such as Colleen Hoover and Suzanne Collins were also popular choices, whilst one of our year 7 students was thrilled to find a whole bookshelf filled with his specialist subject: trains.
