We are delighted to share that Corinne Clarke, Careers Leader at Mill House School, has been nominated for the Springpod Impact Awards ‘Careers Leader of the Year’ award.
This prestigious national award recognises careers leaders who are making a significant and lasting impact on the lives of young people through outstanding careers education, guidance, and opportunities.
At Mill House School, careers education is about much more than helping students choose a job. Under Corinne’s leadership, careers learning has become an integral part of school life, giving pupils meaningful experiences that help them discover their strengths, build confidence, develop employability skills, and explore the many pathways available to them after school.
Over the past year, students have participated in a wide range of careers and enrichment opportunities, including:
- Careers fairs and apprenticeship shows
- Employer encounters and workplace visits
- College and training provider visits
- Industry workshops and guest speakers
- Work experience and virtual placements
- Careers-focused drop-down days
- Enterprise and employability projects
- One-to-one careers guidance and transition support
What makes Mill House School’s approach unique is the way careers education is woven into our wider personal development programme.
Students are encouraged to become active citizens through volunteering, social action, fundraising, and community engagement projects. From supporting local charities and participating in social impact campaigns to volunteering with residents at Bablake Residential Home, pupils gain valuable real-world experiences whilst developing the confidence, resilience, communication, and leadership skills that employers value.
These opportunities help our young people understand that success is not only about achieving qualifications but also about making meaningful contributions to society and developing the skills needed to thrive in the workplace and beyond.
Corinne’s nomination reflects her passion for creating opportunities for every pupil, particularly those who may face additional barriers to success. Through strong partnerships with employers, community organisations, training providers, and charities, she has helped create an ambitious programme that raises aspirations and broadens horizons.
The nomination also comes at an exciting time for the school following our recent Distinction in the Social Impact Schools Award, further recognising the positive difference our students make within their community.
