Our Partnership with SuperKind

Social Action and Philanthropy

At Mill House School, community engagement and social action are an integral part of our curriculum and personal development offer. Through meaningful, pupil‑led initiatives, we empower our young people to understand the world around them, develop empathy, and make a genuine, positive difference within their local and wider communities.

Our Partnership with SuperKind

We proudly use SuperKind, an award‑winning social action and philanthropy platform designed specifically for schools, to support our approach to active citizenship. SuperKind enables our pupils to:

  • Learn about local, national and global issues through age‑appropriate resources
  • Explore causes they care about, including animal welfare, mental health, poverty, equality and the environment
  • Take part in safe, pupil‑led fundraising and awareness‑raising activities
  • See real‑life examples of young change‑makers and feel empowered to take action themselves

This approach aligns closely with our values, supporting pupils to develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of purpose.

Learning Through Action

Social action at Mill House School is not an ‘add‑on’ — it is a meaningful extension of our curriculum. Pupils plan and deliver projects that connect learning to real‑world impact, developing key skills such as:

  • Communication and teamwork
  • Leadership and problem‑solving
  • Emotional literacy and empathy
  • Resilience and self‑belief

Whether raising funds, leading campaigns or supporting local organisations, our pupils learn that their voice matters and that positive change is possible.

Book Drive for Dogs and Community Projects

One example of our social action work is our Book Drive for Dogs campaign, which combines community fundraising with literacy and animal welfare. Through this initiative, pupils collect books, take part in reading visits, and raise funds to support the care and wellbeing of rescue dogs.
Alongside this, pupils regularly engage in projects such as:

  • Visiting care homes to provide companionship to elderly residents
  • Supporting local charities and community organisations
  • Taking part in awareness campaigns led by pupil voice

Building Responsible, Compassionate Citizens

Our commitment to community engagement supports pupils to develop a strong moral compass and an understanding of their role in society. By combining curriculum learning, wellbeing and real‑world action, we help our young people grow into compassionate, thoughtful and socially responsible individuals.

At Mill House School, we believe that even small actions can make a big difference — and our pupils are living proof of that every day.
