We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 and 8 students who continued their wonderful community outreach work at Bablake House today. As part of our ongoing mission to combat social loneliness and foster intergenerational connections, students spent the afternoon engaging in a variety of heartwarming activities with the residents.
The visit included playing games that sparked laughter and friendly competition, supporting a resident who was unable to leave their room by bringing companionship directly to them, and taking Phoebe, the much-loved therapy dog, along to brighten everyone’s day. The presence of Phoebe was a particular highlight, bringing smiles, comfort, and plenty of cuddles.
Students also helped staff serve tea and coffee, making sure residents were well looked after, while taking the time to sit down and enjoy meaningful conversations. These moments of connection are deeply valuable—not only for the residents, but for our students, who gain empathy, perspective, and a sense of social responsibility.
We are sad that today marked our final visit of this academic year, as these visits have become a much-anticipated part of our calendar. However, we are already looking forward to continuing this special partnership in September, and to seeing the friendships and shared experiences grow even further.
Thank you to the staff at Bablake House for welcoming our students so warmly, and to our school community for supporting initiatives like this that have such a lasting impact.
