This week, our school community came together to mark Remembrance Day, taking time to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served in conflicts past and present.
During Period 2, pupils began with a thoughtful starter activity, using our Learning Objective task boards to consider why we remember and what Remembrance means to us today. This set the tone for a morning of reflection and learning.
At 10:30am, our students and staff joined a live online Remembrance Assembly, where we observed the traditional two-minute silence. It was a powerful moment of unity and respect, reminding us all of the importance of remembrance in shaping our shared values of peace and gratitude.
Following the assembly, pupils continued watching an engaging docudrama exploring VE and VJ Day, delving into the stories of those who lived through World War II and the lasting impact of those moments in history.
The day concluded with a teacher-led plenary discussion, allowing pupils to share their thoughts, reflections, and questions about what they had learned. Many students spoke movingly about the importance of remembering those who gave so much, and the relevance of those lessons in today’s world.
Remembrance Day is always a meaningful moment in our school calendar — a chance to pause, reflect, and ensure that the legacy of courage and hope continues to inspire future generations.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
