Standing Together, Speaking Up
This week our school community came together to mark Anti-Bullying Week, themed “Power for Good”, guided by the resources from Just Like Us. We embarked on a series of meaningful sessions designed to help students think deeply about what bullying is, how it affects individuals and communities, and what it means to be an up-stander rather than a by-stander.
Reflections & Outcomes
The conversations have been powerful. Students shared that they feel more aware of how everyday comments can hurt, how quickly someone might feel isolated, and how each of us has the capacity to influence our environment positively. It has been especially meaningful to see younger pupils recognising “power for good” in simple acts—like listening, speaking kindly, and standing alongside a friend. For older pupils, the idea of being an up-stander resonated: what it takes to challenge bullying, both when we see it and when it might be happening to someone else.
