This week, our Year 8 students from Mill House School visited Bablake House Residential Home for a truly uplifting community engagement activity. With our school dog, Phoebe, in tow, the students spent a morning bringing joy, creativity and companionship to the residents.
The visit included:
- Serving tea and coffee and chatting with residents, creating space for conversation and shared stories.
- Giving manicures, offering a pampering moment and showing the residents that they cared enough to give their time and attention.
- Making birthday cards for one resident who will soon turn 90, celebrating and honouring their special milestone.
- Bringing Phoebe the dog, whose friendly presence helped spark smiles, warmth and connection across generations.
This visit is part of our ongoing commitment to meaningful community engagement: we believe that true learning happens beyond the classroom, in moments of connection, kindness and shared experience. Through these activities our students are not only offering service, but are gaining invaluable life-lessons in empathy, respect and intergenerational friendship.
We’re proud of our Year 8 cohort for embracing this opportunity with energy and compassion — and grateful to Bablake House for welcoming us so warmly. Together, we’re strengthening community bonds and making memories that matter.
