On Thursday 27 April we held our second ‘Super Learning Day’ centred around the theme of Multiculturalism. This day was designed to enhance pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural understanding. Throughout the day, pupils learnt about a range of cultures and traditions, participating in a variety of workshops. These included:
- Cooking and tasting Indian foods including street food, samosas and masala chana chat along with a traditional Italian rustic pizza and garlic bread (the garlic had been picked by pupils on their nature walk the day before);
- Exploring famous poets and writing their own poetry with a visiting author and poet;
- Making tiles out of clay using an Islamic and henna design;
- Learning about different religions;
- Meeting a range of animals from across the world – thanks to ZooLab – and learning about their physiology, their social rules, habitats and methods of communication.
Pupils and staff thorough enjoyed the day. We are looking forward to following this up with a school trip later on in the year.
